We are a 50 seat Michelin Bib Gourmand awarded restaurant based in the heart of Kinsale, we chose the building due to its great location and the bar that splits the restaurant in two.
The bar fits with our aim for the restaurant which is to make the restaurant feel accessible to all, we don't use tablecloths, our wait staff wear trainers and jeans and we also have some high tables, all this is to reinforce the casual feel of our little eatery, but that's where the casual stops, when it comes to food, wine and service the serious begins.
Everything you eat at Bastion is made in house, from the bread at the beginning of a meal to the biscuits with your coffee at the end,our food offering is very different from what is normally on offer in Kinsale or even in Cork for that matter. We offer a few bar bites including the sought after iberico ham, we also offer 10/12 small plates including dishes like mackerel with pickled cucumbers, Hendricks gin & tonic, or the now famous leg in the egg. As well as this there are large plate options for those who wish to do the more traditional starter, main, desert.
The wine list is currently at 60 strong and getting stronger, we work closely with a few different wine suppliers and have access to their limited edition and magnum lists, all wines on the menu have been tasted and chosen by ourselves and each picked with a particular dish in mind, our wine glasses were chosen not just to look good but to help the wine develop more easily in the glass.
